Third Pakku Festival being organized to promote Nepali original taste and hospitality
Kathmandu- With the aim of preserving, promoting and branding Nepali traditional food, President Business Group is organizing the ‘Third Pakku Festival-2083’. The festival will be held for five days from Asoj 25 to 29. Under the festival, various Nepali dishes including Pakku will be presented at President Business Group outlets in Sundhara, Maharajgunj, Battisputali and Kalanki in Kathmandu. In addition, the group has stated that President’s Pakku will also be promoted through a food festival to be organized in Bhairahawa, Lumbini Province.
Among the diverse Nepali cuisine, Pakku is a unique dish linked to traditional cooking and village cultural life. The group has been organizing the Pakku Festival for the past three years with the aim of introducing this dish, which has been popular for generations, to the new generation, domestic and foreign tourists, and the international market.
According to the group, the Pakku Festival is not just a food festival but a long-term campaign to establish the identity of Nepali traditional dishes, preserve their originality and link Nepali food with tourism. The President Business Group believes that if Nepali food can be systematically identified, presented and branded, it will contribute to tourism promotion as well as local agricultural production, animal husbandry, supply chain, entrepreneurship and job creation.

The group has stated that it has put forward a plan to develop Pakku as a long-term brand, not just limited to a fixed-term festival, with the goal of ‘bringing local taste to national identity and national taste to the global market’. President Business Group, which has been active in the hotel and restaurant business for two decades, has stated that it has been making food, service, quality, hygiene and hospitality the basis of its business journey. The group, which is moving forward with the belief that ‘taste, health and hospitality go hand in hand’, is also preparing to expand its business network.
According to the group, there are plans to launch new outlets in Butwal, Rupandehi, and Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu. Currently, more than 350 people are directly employed in various businesses and outlets under the group. The group says that commercial promotion of Nepali traditional dishes can create opportunities for farmers, livestock keepers, suppliers, skilled manpower working in kitchens, and workers involved in the service sector. The group says that if traditional dishes can be presented in a modern market and presented according to quality service, hygiene, and professional standards, Nepali food can make a unique identity in the national and international markets.
The group has stated that the support and suggestions received from customers, media persons, partners and connoisseurs of Nepali traditional food have been the energy of the campaign as it reaches the third edition. The group believes that the preservation and promotion of Nepali food is not only a business or organization’s responsibility but also a collective responsibility linked to shared cultural heritage, national identity and tourism. The group has stated that it will continue the campaign to widely introduce Nepali taste, culture and hospitality through the Pakku Festival.
